The Sun Products Corporation to open new LEED certified office at Bentonville Plaza

The Sun Products Corporation (”Sun Products”), based in Connecticut, is the leading provider of laundry detergents, fabric softeners, and related household and personal care products in the North American market.

The company was recently created through the combination of Huish Detergents, Inc. and the Unilever North American Laundry Care business.  Together, Sun Products includes the leading mid-tier brand ALL, along with well know brands such as Snuggle, Sun, Wisk, Sunlight (Canada) and Surf.

Bentonville Plaza is excited to announce Sun Products as the second tenant to pursue LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) certification on their office build out.  Sun Products and Bentonville Plaza have invested both time and money into this project to create an office atmosphere that will be both employee and environmentally friendly.  Lighting will be controlled by sensors that measure the natural light throughout the space and adjust the artificial light accordingly.  Each office in the 10,500 SF suite will have its own thermostat and be individually controlled.  The office walls will be “furniture walls” made specific to Sun Products’ needs which greatly reduces wasted materials during the build out.

Bentonville Plaza is committed to working with tenants toward energy efficiency.  Along with the additional Tenant Improvement allowance offered for tenants desiring to obtain LEED certification, there are several projects in the works that will further attest Bentonville Plaza is committed to creating a “Green” environment for its tenants, neighbors, and the community.

Hanesbrands LEED certification

Hanesbrands has earned well-deserved honors for helping protect the environment.  They have created a LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) certified office space!  Below are sections of the article from the Benton County Daily Record.

-  Starting with an existing shell presented its share of challenges, as Hanesbrands set out to achieve Leadership in Energy Efficient Design certification (LEED), one of the highest levels of achievement designated by the USGBC.  The 9,986-square-foot office, which opened in August 2007…, features advanced lighting and HVAC systems; natural light for every workspace; energy-efficient appliances; and low-emission construction materials, such as paint, adhesives, sealants, carpet, coatings and furniture.  Being located across the street from the Wal-Mart Home Office was a sustainable move in itself, as employee driving would decrease dramatically. But Hanesbrands went a step further, installing bike racks at the Bentonville Plaza. And for those employees who choose to ride their bikes to work, showers were installed for them to clean up.
